Tomorrow, July 28, bus company G-Liner will start trials for an "honesty pay system," eliminating the need a conductor and installing only a cash box for passengers to drop in the correct fare.

Only one bus from their fleet will be used for the trial. The bus, easily identifiable from the "Honest Bus" sign on the windshield, runs from Taytay to Quiapo. Fares range betwen P12 to P53.75.

The Internet, however, seems skeptical of the plan. Facebook users replying to G-Liner's post have predicted cynically that the scheme will probably last only for a short timepredictions range from one ride to one week. It kind of goes to show how much trust we have in ourselves. (We're keeping our fingers crossed, though.)

G-Liner is a 62-year-old bus company founded by the De Guia family in 1956. It has over 100 buses in its fleet.
