See Inside Susan Enriquez's Cavite Farm Stay Getaway
Susan Enriquez may lead a busy life as a host and journalist, but just like the rest of us, she longed for a literal breath of fresh air when the pandemic hit.
Fortunately, Susan had a property in Indang, Cavite, which gave her and her family a dose of serenity at the time. On weekends, they'd visit it and slowly cleaned up the place and she was struck with inspiration to transform it into her personal haven.
"Doon na yung tumagal na, na-inspire ka na na, 'Ay, pagandahin mo na lang 'to at magiging weekend getaway mo,' Susan tells the OG team.
Today, Susan's property is an inviting respite from the hustle and bustle of Manila, and she's opening it to the public so they can enjoy the bliss that comes with the simple farm life.
Susan had always wanted to come up with balusters, which refers to decorative pillars like those in certain furniture legs. When they were thinking of a name for the farm, they figured it would be a good source of inspiration.
"Parang ang dami naming gustong gawing baluster, iba't-ibang klase, made of puno ng kape, mga langka, ganyan," Susan explained.
"Tapos 'cerca' is a Spanish word na ang ibig sabihin ay 'near,'" she adds. "So baluster is near, parang gano'n, so 'yan po ang nangyari."
Your relaxing family and barkada home stay
There are four cabins on Balustre Cerca, featuring a triangular design. Each of these cabins were named after Susan's grandchildren and kids. Two of the cabins can accommodate six people, one for eight people, and the largest, for 12 people. Another glass cabin is currently being constructed.
Guests can also refresh themselves with a well-maintained 60-square meter swimming pool, kiddie pool, and jacuzzi, perfect for hot summer days.
Apart from the swimming pool, they can also enjoy a bonfire area and a half-court for basketball, making Balustre Cerca a perfect getaway for families and barkadas.
Have an event coming up? They also have a pavilion that can fit up to 100 people and parking space good for up to 30 vehicles.
Whether booking the farm as a group or as a couple, Susan guarantees that you'll have the entire place to yourselves. She's also hands-on when it comes to addressing any customer concerns.
For those interested in staying at the farm, the lowest price is at P5,000 good for five persons.
"Kung gusto niyo pong mag-relax at talagang magkaroon ng privacy, enjoy the stillness of the night, at talagang tahimik ang paligid, sariwang hangin, I assure you that," she emphasizes.
To those interested in setting up a similar business, Susan says it all boils down to hard work, courage, and resourcefulness.
"Lakas ng loob lang ho 'yan, tamang diskarte, 'di ba. Kung may konting kapital ay puwede na pong pang-simula. 'Di naman kaialngang bongga agad, e. Unti-unti ho't pasasaan ba at 'pag uunti-unti ng tiyaga at pagsisikap ay makakarating din ho kayo sa inyong pangarap."
