The 21st Grand Wine Experience Raises the Bar
Topping the previous year's event is always a challenge, but the folks at Philippine Wine Merchants (PWM), the organizing body behind the Grand Wine Experience, assures attendees that its 21st edition, with the theme "The World in a Glass," will be nothing short of extraordinary.Â
"The Grand Wine Experience has established itself as Southeast Asia's largest and most prestigious event for wines and spirits. And this year, we are, of course, taking it up a notch by introducing some new exciting brands from the world's top wine regions, including Tuscany, Bordeaux, Rhone, Barossa Valley, and Washington State," says Robi Joseph, PWM director for sales and marketing at a recent press conference.

PWM is also broadening its portfolio by adding popular sake brands and introducing more biodynamic and organic wines, tapping into these rapidly growing market segments.
The group continues to represent labels from 12 major wine-producing countries, including France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, USA, Chile, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Japan.
During the press launch held at Manila Mariott Hotel, PWM gave a sneak peek of what wine lovers can look forward to at the 21st GWE. They served five participating wines: Jansz Tasmania, an elegant and refreshing rosé with delicate berry flavors; Lucky Lizard Chardonnay, vibrant and creamy with nectarine and white peach aromas; August Kesseler Riesling, crisp and refreshing with citrus and green apple notes; Kaiken Aventura Malbec, rich and bold with dark fruit flavors and velvety tannins; and Montes Wings Carmenere, full-bodied and smooth with spicy notes and dark berry flavors.
Joseph brothers, Raymond and Ronald, say there are too many good options to try, including the internationally known Dassai sake, which is praised for its smooth, refined taste and elegant aroma, and various "icons" priced anywhere from P4,000 to P15,000.
Despite the ticket price increasing by about a thousand pesos this year (P9,500), Robi guarantees that the event offers exceptional value. It not only includes full access to all wines, spirits, sakes, beers, and gourmet food, but also provides a unique opportunity to interact with vineyard personalities and winemakers, allowing attendees to hear their stories and understand the intricate process of creating these drinks.
"The [21st Grand Wine Experience] is an ode to terroir—the unique combination of environment, soil, climate, and human touch that is as distinct to a place as a fingerprint. Just as a glass of wine can transport you to different regions, it can also convey the story of its origin, the passion of its makers, and the legacy of its land," says Robi.
The 21st GWE is happening on November 15 at the Marriott Hotel Grand Ballroom. For tickets and inquiries, visit the Grand Wine Experience website.Â
