There’s an unspoken rule among power diners: the higher the floor, the quieter the deal. At Flame, located on the 16th level of Discovery Primea, conversations flow as easily as the courses that come with them.

Bright and polished but not flashy, the space lets the skyline do the talking. The Urdaneta Dining Room and Wing frame pockets of green—an unexpected calm amid the city’s rush. The Ayala Dining Room, overlooking the bustle of Ayala Avenue, manages to feel intimate despite the traffic below. Out on Flame Al Fresco terrace, the glittering lights of Makati, Rockwell, and BGC stretch into the distance, perfect for cocktails at dusk.

David Pardo de Ayala, General Manager of Discovery Primea, says what he personally likes about the views at Flame is the contrasting difference between the dining rooms. “On the Ayala Avenue side, you can feel the energy and dynamism of the CBD, while the expansive, tranquil views over Urdaneta are much more relaxed and conducive to a leisurely-paced meal. Both are special, both carry a sense of occasion, each in its own distinctive way,” he says.

But what diners appreciate most about the restaurant, according to him, is the privacy it offers. He also highlights the team’s knack for tailoring each experience to what guests truly enjoy.

Executive Chef Luis Chikiamko says it has always been his dream to have a private dining menu at Flame, so he took inspiration from Michelin- and four-star-rated restaurants. “The aim, just like the restaurants we look up to, was to offer our clients an exclusive space within our fine dining restaurant. Thus, we had to create fitting menus to further enhance their experience and tie into the overall look and vision of Flame’s private dining concept,” he says.

“We wanted something that would make guests say ‘wow,’” he says of the brunch menu, which reimagines classic brunch dishes in the style of upscale New York restaurants.

If you prefer lighter options, there’s the Wedge Salad with guanciale, garlic croutons, and cacio e pepe dressing; Potato Chowder with tartuforta; Burrata paired with grape jam and cherry tomatoes; Eggs Benedict with jamon serrano and tomato-tarragon hollandaise; Smoked Salmon on bagel chips with horseradish-dressed baby greens; and the Lyonnaise Salad with mizuna, double-smoked bacon, and a soft egg dressed in yuzu vinaigrette.

If you’re in the mood for something more filling, there are richer plates to dig into. The Makati Sunrise Burger layers American cheddar, double-smoked bacon, and a sunny-side-up egg, while the Pan-Roasted Sea Bass comes draped in sundried tomato pesto and topped with crispy chickpeas. The Josper-Grilled Canada Striploin arrives with truffle potato pavé and roasted king oyster mushrooms, and the Butter-Poached Maine Lobster is served alongside ricotta ravioli, Parmesan migas, and a delicate miso sauce.

For dessert, there’s the Gianduja Chocolate Bar with hazelnut praline, chocolate soil, and ginger ice cream—a satisfying end to a meal that doesn’t try too hard, because it doesn’t have to.

With skyline views, chef-driven menus, and the hotel’s quiet brand of hospitality, Flame has become a preferred setting for both fine dining and intimate business meetings in the heart of Makati. The restaurant continues to welcome regular diners daily.
