Michter's Retains Top Position in World’s Most Admired Whiskeys for 2024
Michter's, which is America's first whiskey company established in 1753, has claimed the coveted title of "The World's Most Admired Whiskey" for 2024. And to celebrate this news announced in October, as well as Michter's inclusion in the brand portfolio of Montosco Inc. since 2023, friends and members of the press joined Michter's executives in a whiskey pairing event at Lusso by Margarita Forés - The Balmori Suites last November 7. The special dinner was also held just before Whisky Live Manila 2024, which was from November 8 to 9 at Shangri-La BGC.
"We were very lucky that we maintained the spot for the number one most admired whiskey. So this is voted by media critics and media whiskey critics around the world where they vote for their favorite whiskeys, and actually on top of the top 10 list and the top 50 list, most of them are Scotch whiskey or Japanese whiskey. There are only very few American whiskeys, and we're very lucky we're still the number one," Ethan Chai, Michter's Distillery's Asia Pacific Sales Director, said during the whiskey pairing event.

Michter's: The 2024 Most Admired Whiskey in the World
The latest edition of the World's Most Admired Whiskeys list, curated by an Academy of independent experts from over 20 countries, reaffirms Michter's dominance.
"Michter's is a family-owned company. They are probably the most premium American Whiskey in the market right now. There are traces of its heritage back to America's first whiskey company, Shenk's. Founded in 1753 by John Shenk. In 1861, the distillery was sold to Abraham Bomberger and became known as Bomberger's. The 1919 passage of Prohibition forced the distillery to shut its doors until re-opening in 1934. During the early 1950s, then-owner Lou Foreman created the name Michter's by combining portions of his sons' names, Michael and Peter. In 1989, Michter's declared bankruptcy and shut its Pennsylvania operations, leaving its name abandoned and lost to history. In the 1990s, our team began its work to restore Michter's," Chai explained about Michter's history.

Michter's diverse portfolio, featuring bourbon, rye, sour mash whiskey, and American whiskey, is a testament to its dedication to producing exceptional spirits. Each offering is meticulously aged to peak maturity, ensuring a rich and nuanced flavor profile that resonates with connoisseurs worldwide.
"We enter our whiskey into the barrel at 103 proof. This is one of the lowest entry proofs in the industry. And although it's very expensive to do so, we feel that it contributes to a smoother, richer whiskey," he further explained.
Whiskey Pairing at Lusso
This flavor profile of Michter's makes it an ideal beverage for whiskey pairing, which isn't really as usual as wine pairing. But the chefs at Lusso rose to the challenge.

A bite of their Prosciutto Galloni Gold complemented a sip of Michter's Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon, while the Caramelized Petit Camembert highlighted the nuanced flavors of the Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Rye.

With Michter's being known for its aged whiskey, the 10-Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Rye was paired with Pan-seared Salmon, while the 10-Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon came with the Pepato Short Ribs.
