Tour the French Countryside Through Its Wines and Cheeses at This Makati Event

Travel is slowly opening up but it might still be a while before you hop on to the next plane to Europe. If you can’t go on a cheese and wine tour in the French countryside just yet, here’s the next best thing.
Local food and wine collective The Tasting Club’s latest event features the fine cheeses and wines of the different regions of France every Saturday of March 2022. “The Grand French Wine and Cheese Tour” is a hybrid virtual and in-person tasting event that celebrates the culinary delicacies of one of the world’s best foodie destinations.
The inaugural edition, happening this Saturday (March 5), highlights the wines, delightful cheeses, and other gastronomic specialties of the Loire Valley. The region known as the “garden of France” and the land of castles is located in the middle stretch of one of the longest rivers in Europe. The Tasting Club has curated a selection of wines from the area, including Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé, the models for Sauvignon Blanc around the world. In addition, participants will be able to experience different expressions of Chenin Blanc (sparkling, dry, semi-sweet and sweet wine) and the fresh, easy Muscadet made from Melon de Bourgogne, as well as different Cabernet Franc red wines from Chinon and Saumur Champigny.
Three traditional cheeses will be offerd to accompany the wines: Sainte-Maure de Touraine (goat's milk cheese), Saint Paulin (cow's milk cheese) and Vieux Pané (cow's milk cheese), along with other gourmet specialties such as the regional Sarthoise Pork Rillettes (a traditional pork pate preparation delicious with bread and cornichons) and Les Rillons de Tours (slow cooked bacon) with mustard.
Participants who choose to join the tasting have the option do so virtually via Zoom, or in-person at Society Lounge in Makati. However, those joining the in-person tasting event are required to be fully vaccinated and present their vaccination card prior to admittance.
