After just recently opening its first store in Europe, Jollibee is once again asserting its status as an international icon of Filipino culture. Just earlier this afternoon, the fast food chain's official Facebook page announced a collaboration with Funko, the world-renowned brand of pop culture collectibles, to be released in July:

.

.

Shortly before Jollibee made the announcement on Facebook, photos of a Jollibee Funko toy surfaced online, both on Reddit and on a fan page called Funko Finderz:

.

.

If this is a legitimate image of the Jollibee collaboration, then we can expect a limited run of 4,000 pieces. The box also indicates that Jollibee will be part of the "Ad Icons" series, which includes figurines of brand mascots like the Trix Rabbit and Tony the Tiger. And while the big red bee is seen by the rest of the world as a brand mascot, he is of course to us, a national icon, and maybe even a diplomat, at least where Canada is invovled. (And hey, we all know Jollibee would be better—both as a figurine and as a diplomat—than Manny Pacquiao.)

Considering how well Filipinos have received Funko's vinyl figurines, we can certainly expect a Jollibee Funko toy to become a covetable collectible. Follow Jollibee's official Facebook page for updates on how you can get your hands on one (or ten, for "investment.")
