The French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Philippines certainly knows how to throw a party. The Annual Gala 2023, aptly named "Rendez-Vous," was held at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila last month. This distinguished gathering marked 76 years of the enduring and prosperous relationship between France and the Philippines, drawing in over 460 guests from both communities.

The evening served as a platform to foster connections, acknowledge notable achievements, and honor the robust alliance between these two nations. As such, the gathering was thick with celebration and diplomatic relations. Dignitaries from various nations, as well as local government officials and esteemed personalities such as Nadine Lustre, Issa Litton, and Solenn Heussaff graced the event with their presence.

The Gala welcomed Her Excellency Marie Fontanel, the French Ambassador to the Philippines, who shared insights into her impactful "Make It Iconic" campaign. Additionally, the eloquence of speeches by notable figures such as First Lady of the Philippines Marie Louise "Liza" Araneta Marcos, President of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. Jacques Christophe Branellec, Pasay City Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano, and Miss World Philippines 2023 Gwendolyne Fourniol, resonated deeply, emphasizing the significance of the occasion.

The focal point of the evening was the prestigious awards ceremony, Le Trophée Bleu: Sustainability Business Awards. This segment recognized companies that have displayed exceptional commitment to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The partnership with HAVAS Ortega showcased initiatives by companies such as Sanofi, Essilor, CMA-CGM Philippines, and MAD Courses, highlighting their endeavors in championing sustainability across diverse categories.

Beyond recognition, the Gala also featured entertainment. As the night progressed, a theatrical production unfolded, a beautiful amalgamation of French and Filipino cultural performances. The immersive experience was complemented by a culinary journey curated by Chef Bettina Arguelles, featuring a delectable six-course menu merging Filipino and French cuisine, adding a delightful symphony of flavors to the evening.

The six-course meal featured an artisanal mini bread selection; bacalao rillette and foie gras au torchon; piña for the entrance course; duck adobo façon vol-au-vent and fillet de boeuf bulalo for the main course; a selection of cheeses including brie, Ossau Iraty, Comté, Fourme d’Ambert, St. Maure de Touraine; and pink guava charlotte and petit fours for dessert.

The fine dining experience was complemented by a selection of premium wines and spirits, including Champagne Martel, Gerard Bertrand, Agimat Ube Cream Liqueur, and Plantation Rum XO 20th Anniversary, elevating the gastronomic journey for the discerning guests.

Later in th evening, the Jewelmer Band and DJ Abdel Aziz joined forces to ensure that the dance floor wasn't empty. The band, accompanied by Mr. Branellec, serenaded the attendees, paving the way for an evening of dance and celebration, culminating with DJ Abdel Aziz setting the stage for a fantastic conclusion. Because what's a gala without a spirited dance-off to wrap up the festivities?
