A Corgi Just Became the First Dog From the Philippines to Win at the World Dog Show
Dalbong, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, has been making headlines all over the world recently, and for good reason. He just became the Best of Breed champion in his class at the World Dog Show 2023 held in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Swiss Champion bested 131 other corgies, 1,592 herding dogs, and 55 herding dog breed winners, according to his owner Wency Villanueva. Dalbong was recognized as a Champion Class winner and with an FCI-CACIB certificate, as well.
"Without the support of everyone who stood with us throughout our journey, we would not have been able to accomplish this. I am immensely grateful for each and every one of you," he wrote in a post. Villanueva dedicated the win to fellow Filipino dog owners.
Dalbong, whose real name is apparently Eastern Promise of Hamarang, has been joining the international dog show circuit for a while now. In July he was awarded "Best in Show" at the Thailand International Dog Show 2023. He was also named Mera Philippines Top Dog in 2021.
