Listen, we’re calling it. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was the best Spider-Man—and even Marvel—movie ever. Sorry, Tom Holland, but Shameik Moore’s Spider-Man has you beat in that department. 2018 was a defining moment for animation and the Marvel Universe when Into the Spider-Verse raised the bar for superhero films. And following up to that monumental success is its highly-anticipated sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

The long wait is finally over, folks. Because Miles Morales is returning to the big screen. Four years in the making, Across the Spider-Verse just dropped its first official trailer, and suffice to say, our minds are f*cking blown. Sony and Columbia are pulling out all the stops for the animated Spider-Verse, bringing together every single Spidey in the universe.

Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K Thompson, Into the Spider-Verse follows Miles Morales on a multiversal journey as he’s initiated into the team of Spider-People, a whole host of Spideys from, well, across the universe. Together with Gwen Stacy, Morales embarks on another mission to save the multiverse. But along the way, Miles Morales butts heads with another Spider-Man—Miguel O’Hara, the only Spider-Man in the multiverse without a sense of humor.

Across the Spider-Verse will see the return of its original voice cast, which includes Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy, and Jake Johnson as Peter Parker. Also joining the cast as Spideys from across the universe are Issa Rae as Spider-Woman, Daniel Kaluuya as Spider-Punk, and Oscar Isaac as Spider-Man 2099. But that’s not all: Across the Spider-Verse is really taking advantage of its IP by incorporating every known Spidey in the Marvel comics. Talk about optimizing the budget.

Expect glimpses of Scarlet Spider, Spider-Byte, Cyborg Spider-Woman, Superior Spider-Man, Lady-Spider, Sun-Spider, Spyder-Knight, Old Man Peter Parker, Spider-Cop, Ultimate Tarantula, Spider-Cat, Spider-Monkey, Spider-Wolf, Bombastic Bag-Man, and really, we could keep going. But we’ll save our breath and let you watch the official Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse trailer to spot every Spidey in the Marvel universe.

Watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse exclusively in cinemas on May 31 in the Philippines.
