Wednesday Just Keeps Breaking Netflix Records

Tim Burton’s Wednesday is breaking records left and right. It’s only been two weeks since its release, and Wednesday has already broken another viewing record for Netflix. Based on Netflix metrics, the show has the most viewing time in a single week for an English-language series, with over 411 million hours of viewing time worldwide from November 28 to December 4.

Wednesday is also currently the third most-viewed English-language series on Netflix of all time, with a total of 752.52 million hours viewed since it dropped on November 23.

Netflix measures the success of its shows differently than other streamers, but overall, it looks like Wednesday could become the second most-viewed English language series of all time. That title currently belongs to season four of Stranger Things, which surpassed 1.35 billion hours of watch time in its first four weeks. Just two weeks since its release, Wednesday is already sitting at 750 million hours, and there’s a strong chance it will surpass Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’s numbers, which were 856 million hours after four weeks.

The most-viewed Netflix series of any language is currently Squid Game, with over 1.65 billion hours of viewing time. Wednesday is expected to breach the one billion hours milestone in the next two weeks.

Wednesday is officially a Netflix hit series thanks to the platform’s foresight in pairing Tim Burton with The Addams Family. Not to mention Netflix’s on-spot casting with Jenna Ortega as the title character.

Wednesday follows a teenage version of the iconic homicidal goth girl, Wednesday Addams. The show is set in Nevermore Academy, the alma mater of Morticia and Gomez Addams. Along with a ragtag group of misfits, Wednesday tries to solve a murder mystery that goes back 25 years. The show’s been lauded for its dark humor, hilarious dialogue, and loyal commitment to the source material, and fans can’t wait for season two.
