A24's Next Film With Darren Aronofsky Is Going to Be a Biopic About... Elon Musk
Darren Aronofsky. A24. Another wacky, divisive protagonist. Oh, we're cooking with gas now.
Aronofsky, whose most recent directorial work with A24 was the award-winning film The Whale with Brendan Fraser, is back with another interesting project with the indie studio. This time, the award-winning filmmaker will be making a biopic about Elon Musk.
It was recently announced that A24 had snatched up the bidding rights for Walter Isaacson’s authorized biography of the controversial billionaire. A24 will be co-producing the Musk biopic with Aronofsky's production company Protozoa Pictures. This isn't the first time Isaacson's work will be adapted for the screen. In 2015, Danny Boyle worked with the writer's Steve Jobs biography, for which Michael Fassbender received the best actor nom.
Musk is no stranger to the public eye and pop culture (and sh*tposting), as we all know. Even in movies and television, he has long been trying to maintain the "cool billionaire guy" persona. He's appeared in movies like Iron Man 2 and shows like South Park, Rick and Morty, and more, as well. The founder of SpaceX has gotten into his fair share of controversy over the past few years. Most notably, he was criticized for his purchase of Twitter and its subsequent rebrand. As it stands, he is the richest person in the world with a net worth of about $207 billion.
Aronofsky's The Wrestler was a critical success in 2009.

Aronofsky will certainly have his hands full. Of course, it's not that the material isn't enough. If there's anything we've concluded about him, we know that he is a master of psychological fiction. The director is best known for his unnerving absurdist storylines, psychoanalytical sensibilities, and surrealist brand of filmmaking. Some of his most popular films, of course, include the drug addiction drama Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler, Pi, Mother!, and Black Swan. Each portrays characters caught in a state of flux, to say the least.
Aronofsky is also known for getting the most out of his actors. Natalie Portman won best actress for Black Swan while Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei each received nominations for The Wrestler. In the last Academy Awards, Fraser won best actor as the recluse of a professor in The Whale while Hong Chau got a best supporting actress nod.
