Does Alien: Romulus Have a Post-Credits Scene?

Alien is the gift that keeps on giving. Just when you think the Xenomorphs are gone… another Facehugger pops up! Alien: Romulus is the seventh film in the expansive franchise—and fans are already wondering what’s next. So, does Romulus have a post-credits scene teasing another adventure?

Before we get to that, let’s get you up to speed. In Alien: Romulus (out now), a group of space colonists explore an abandoned station and come face-to-face with a ghastly Xenomorph. I won’t spoil what happens, but let’s just say this: Those who fuck around? They always find out. Since its premiere on August 16, Alien: Romulus has received rave reviews from critics and fans alike—both have praised the film’s use of gnarly practical effects, as well as the franchise’s return to its simple freaky-spaceship roots.

If you’re feeling up to the task, you can watch the story unfold at your local theater. Don’t bother sticking around after the finale, though: There is no mid- or post-credits scene. Given that Alien: Romulus falls in between the events of Alien and Aliens—which have a 57-year gap—there was a small chance that we’d see some sort of extra callout to the franchise’s canon. (Reminder: Alien, the first film in the series, begins in 2122. Alien: Romulus occurs roughly 20 years later, followed by Aliens, which takes place in 2179.)

Still with me? Great. Although there isn’t a post-credits scene, that doesn’t mean there won’t be another Alien film someday. There are still plenty of stories to tell. In fact, FX has a new series, Alien: Earth, in the works right now. While we wait to learn more, you can catch Alien: Romulus in all its glory on the big screen.
