First we were treated with Tagalog graffiti in the credits of the very first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (TFATWS). Then we were blessed with Shanti Dope’s song "Amatz" playing in the background as the duo entered Madripoor.

And in the season finale of the Disney+ hit series, Marvel introduced us to a Filipino character who helped the new Captain America save the day. Clearly, TFATWS is showing Filipino Marvel fans a lot of love with this show.

Spoilers ahead!

In the series finale, we meet the character Ayla Perez, a Filipino diplomat on the Global Repatriation Council (GRC) who is one of the many politicians and diplomats taken captive by the Flag Smashers . While she and her fellow GRC representatives are held hostage by the Flag Smashers aboard a helicopter, the new Captain America (aka Sam Wilson, former Falcon) calls for her help to stop the kidnappers.

"A little birdie told me you know how to fly a helicopter,” says Cap (hell yes!) to Ayla Perez.

Red Wing flashed a quick bio of the Filipino character on screen, and this is what we know: Before becoming the Filipino representative to the GRC, Perez was an expert pilot in the Philippine Air Force. She was a lieutenant colonel, and those skills helped her take control of the chopper after Cap took out the Flag Smasher piloting the vehicle.

The Filipino Marvel character is played by Asian-American actress Jane Rumbaua.

Now the question is, will Wave aka Pearl Pangan get her own Disney+ show?
