Big Bird Gets Vaccinated, Ruffles the Feathers of Conservatives

Big Bird drew the ire of conservatives and anti-vaxxers after getting the jab.

"My wing is feeling a little sore, but it'll give my body an extra protective boost that keeps me and others healthy," Big Bird tweeted.

That little tweet from the largest Muppet drew a maelstrom of comments from Republicans and conservatives, who accused Big Bird of “brainwashing children” and promoting the “evils” of vaccination.

Among the most prominent figures whose feathers got ruffled was Ted Cruz, who tweeted this scary Big Brd clip with the caption, “Big Bird coming over to vaccinate your kids.”

Lisa Boothe, a Fox News contributor, lambasted Big Bird as a propagandist who is “brainwashing children,” while Steve Cortes described the tweet as “evil,” according to NPR

Big Bird Getting Vaccinated Since the 1970s

Conservatives and those accusing the Muppet of “evil propaganda” may have probably forgotten that they may have been vaccinated for polio and other diseases through the ’70s because of Big Bird.

Despite the critics, there are also those supportive of Big Bird’s vaccination. Among them is President Joe Biden, who congratulated the Muppet.

Sesame Street first aired in 1969. Big Bird got his first vaccine in 1972.
