Margot Robbie has released the first look at her return as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad spin-off movie Birds of Prey.

The movie brings back Harley Quinn and teams her up with a new group of friends, including Huntress and Black Canary. With Robbie sharing an image of her in costume, it looks like the new Worlds of DC movie has started production as expected.

Of course, Birds of Prey isn't its official name, as its full title is the rather wordy Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).

The movie's writer Christina Hodson, who also wrote Transformers spin-off Bumblebee, explained that the title was an "unofficial aka, when I wrote the script" – and then it just kind of stuck.

"I added it about a year or so ago, almost exactly as it is, just as an aka. I didn't think we'd ever use it. We'd always used a working title, so I just had it as a cheeky little thing, on the front cover," she noted.

"And then, when we were talking about a title and brainstorming, we all kept drifting back to that one."

Birds of Prey will also star Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ewan McGregor, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Ella Jay Basco, Rosie Perez, Chris Messina and Michael Masini.

We don't know the exact plot details yet, but it's assumed it'll see Harley take on the Black Mask (McGregor) and his cohort Victor Zsasz (Messina).

Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is released in cinemas in February 2020.
