Black Panther 3 Is Happening, According to Letitia Wright

Angela Bassett made history last night at the 80th Golden Globes Awards when she won Best Supporting Performance in a Motion Picture, becoming the first person to win a major acting award for a Marvel superhero film. Of course, she beat our personal bet, the indomitable Dolly de Leon, but Bassett was more than deserving.

It was a major win for Marvel as a whole, and fans have even more reason to rejoice as Black Panther star Letitia Wright teased Black Panther 3 on the Golden Globes red carpet just minutes before Bassett won her award.

"I think it's already in the works," she said to Variety during a red carpet interview. "You know, we just had a terrific two years of just bringing it out and everybody coming together to support it. We need a little bit of a break, we need to regroup, and [director] Ryan [Coogler] needs to get back into the lab, so it's going to take a while, but really excited for you guys to see that."

Marvel Studios hasn’t yet announced Black Panther 3, but since Wright will be the main star of the third film, there’s a good chance she knows what’s up. As the Suri actress mentioned, it might be years before we see Black Panther 3 in the MCU lineup, but with Wakanda Forever’s box office numbers and Bassett’s major acting award win, there’s no way Marvel wouldn’t push through with the third installment.

It might be a while before we see the return of Shuri and Namor, but you won’t have to wait too long to see Riri Williams again. The young heroine’s solo show, Ironheart, is scheduled to premiere in Disney+ in late 2023, and Black Panther producer Nate Moore has called Ironheart a direct sequel to the movie as Riri deals with the aftermath of everything that happened to her in Wakanda Forever.
