Dave Bautista Is Ready For His Romcom Era, But Wonders If He's Too 'Unattractive' and 'Unappealing' For Romcom Roles
Whoever said Dave Bautista wasn’t made for rom-coms deserves an elbow in the gut. Hard.
In this Rom-com Revival era, we would go apeshit for the chance to see the actor star as the male lead in his own rom-com. Take our money. He might be known for his hardcore action roles, but if Bautista’s colorful filmography has taught us anything, it’s that he’s the best wrestler-turned-actor in the business. And he deserves his own rom-com.

At the premiere of his new film Knock at the Cabin with M. Night Shyamalan, Bautista told Page Six that he’d love to explore romantic comedies, but scripts for those types of films rarely come his way. Then he broke our hearts by sharing this:
“I know I’m not your typical rom-com lead. I’m a little rough around the edges. But I always, you know, I look in the mirror and I say, I ask myself, ‘Am I that unattractive? Is there something that unappealing about me that excludes me from these parts?' I don’t know. It’s just never come my way. I’ve never had an offer to do a rom-com. I still have high hopes. I’ll just keep searching.”
Cue our tears. If Bautista isn’t attractive, what the hell are we? Chopped liver??
The giant former wrestler might not be the typical buttoned-up rom-com lead, but what woman wouldn’t swoon at seeing this rugged hunk in a romantic role? Point us to the studio execs we need to talk to and we’ll make our case. Tall, tatted, and ripped is in, and we know for a fact that all the female fans Bautista has accumulated over the years would go feral to see him in a rom-com. He can count on all the thirsty Filipino titas to show up.
Rough around the edges might just be a selling point. The Last of Us Episode 3 pulled it off with the rugged Nick Offerman, and heck, if Pete freaking Davidson can land a rom-com, anyone can.
Bautista’s been on a roll trying to diversify his resume with his new horror flick Knock at the Cabin and comedy-mystery Glass Onion. The actor is making a point: he’s not letting himself be typecast, and the next mountain for him to conquer is the rom-com.
