We have been given us our first glimpse of Josh Brolin's Cable in Deadpool 2.

The actor, alongside fellow star Ryan Reynolds, unveiled the time traveling mutant assassin on social media, Brolin writing: "Now offering 25 percent off your next autopsy. #youremine#deadpool."

Reynolds added on his own account: "We all have that one, grumpy, heavily armed Uncle from the future. #PremiumCABLE#MaximumAsshole."

He also joked on Twitter that he was "Your premium #Cable provider."

Of course this reveal has been heavily anticipated, with months of speculation around who would play the classic comic character before Brolin was cast.

He beat out the likes of Brad Pitt, Pierce Brosnan, Michael Shannon, Russell Crowe, and Stranger Things' David Harbour for the role.

And the No Country for Old Men star has certainly been committed to playing the time-traveling mutant assassin, posting a series of Instagram videos showing him working hard to get in shape.

Brolin will star opposite Reynolds' Merc with the Mouth in the film, and has signed a four-movie deal with 20th Century Fox to play him over the next couple of years.
