'Para Sa 'Tin To': Dolly de Leon Wins Best Supporting Performance at Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards
Dolly de Leon just went from an award-winning actress in the Philippines to an award-winning actress internationally. The Filipino actress won Best Supporting Performance at the prestigious Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) Awards 2022 for her critically-acclaimed portrayal of an OFW in Ruben Ostlund’s dark satire Triangle of Sadness.
De Leon was one of two actors who won Best Supporting Performance, the other being Ke Huy Quan of Everything Everywhere All At Once. The LAFCA Awards’ acting categories are gender-neutral, with two of the four nominees coming out as winners. Dolly De Leon and Ke Huy Quan beat out Jessie Buckley of Women Talking and Brian Tyree Henry of Causeway for the awards.

In Triangle of Sadness, De Leon plays Abigail, a Filipino cleaner on a cruise full of privileged elites. When the boat capsizes, Abigail’s survival skills let her jump from the bottom to the top of the food chain, setting off a chain of events that dissect our shallow capitalist reality.
Also winning big at the 2022 LAFCA Awards were Cate Blanchett and Bill Nighy, who won Best Lead Performances for the films Tár and Living, respectively. The Best Film category ended in a tie, with both Everything Everywhere All At Once and Tár taking home the top prize.
Triangle of Sadness and Everything Everywhere All At Once were both screened in the Philippines this year, courtesy of TBA Studios. Triangle of Sadness is still playing in 11 cinemas in Metro Manila, so make sure to catch the film as De Leon is expected to bag even more awards for the Philippines during Hollywood’s awards season.
