Expect More Henry Cavill in Enola Holmes 2 as Enola's Exasperated Big Brother, Sherlock Holmes
If you enjoyed watching Henry Cavill don Sherlock Holmes’ detective coat in Enola Holmes, get ready for even more of him in the sequel. Cavill returns as Sherlock in the upcoming Netflix film Enola Holmes 2, where he’ll step back into the shoes of Enola Holmes’ Exasperated Big Brother. In the sequel, Enola is set on solving another mystery, while Sherlock is set on keeping her out of trouble and out of his hair.
Best known for dominating roles like Superman and Geralt of Riviera, Cavill takes a back seat in Enola Holmes 2 as a supporting character to Millie Bobby Brown’s Enola. Sherlock might be her big brother in the Enola universe, but it’s the little sister who calls all the shots—to Sherlock’s great exasperation.
“I think the important thing with this Sherlock is that he exists in the Enola universe as a supporting character. And so the role of [this] Sherlock is to help sell the journey and the story of the message of what Enola is going through,” said Cavill to Esquire Philippines.
Cavill’s version of Sherlock is a refreshing take as the actor gives the iconic character a more grounded portrayal. There’s less ego and arrogance in this Sherlock, and perhaps even more self-awareness. It might be the most relatable Sherlock yet as almost everyone can relate to having an annoyingly smart younger sibling.
“The relationship Millie and I have off set is very similar to a sibling relationship. And so it's fun to bring that to the screen. It's honestly not that much different from how we are in real life. It's a natural place for me,” shared Cavill.
