John Travolta's Best Dance Performance Since 1980 Just Happened at Cannes
Every so often, John Travolta slides into the national consciousness to remind everyone that he, the star of 1978's Saturday Night Fever, can still dance. There are, of course, the many late '70s and early '80s examples: Grease, in which he perfects the hand jive; Urban Cowboy, in which he dances to country music; Staying Alive, the sequel to Saturday Night Fever, in which he's a ballet dancer. Travolta resurfaced in the '90s to do his version of the twist with Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction and, a couple years later, to cut a rug as a fallen angle in Michael. There was Hairspray in 2007 and, in 2013, a weird Brazilian rum ad where Travolta gets down on a beach.
On Tuesday, Dancin' Travolta appeared once again, this time during a party at the Cannes Film Festival, with 50 Cent, who was performing his song, "Just A Lil Bit." It is, unquestionably, Travolta's best dance performance since Urban Cowboy. Jeremy Bettis, an executive at 50 Cent's record label, captured the moves and shared them via Instagram:
50 Cent also shared a clip on Twitter:
Travolta is attending Cannes to promo his latest movie, Gotti, about the life of notorious mob boss John Gotti. Travolta plays the titular role, while his wife, Kelly Preston, appears as Gotti's wife, Victoria.
