Bong Joon-Ho Has Just Finished the Script for the Parasite Sequel
It's official: Parasite's buzzed-about sequels are a step closer to actual production as Bong Joon-Ho has finished the script for his latest project. No, we're not talking about the HBO series. (We broke down every single thing there is to know about the Americanized spin-off here.) We're talking about two feature-length spin-offs—one in Korean, and another in English—that are coming soon.
In a podcast called The Director’s Cut, Bong said, "It feels like I'm splitting my brain in half left and right writing these two scripts. But, I finished one last week." He added, "the Korean film is located in Seoul and has unique elements of horror and action." Exciting stuff.
It's a pretty big update, but we really don't know anything at all yet. Like which one of the scripts did Bong finish? What will the sequels explore? How will the story work out with two locations? The only thing we have to go on right now is Bong's interview with The Wrap early in 2020 where he said:
"For example when the original housekeeper Mun Gwang (Lee Jung Eun) comes back in the late-night, something happened to her face. Even her husband asked about it but she never answered. I know why she had the bruises on her face. I have a story for that and aside from that why does she know the existence of this bunker? What relationship does she have with that architect to know of this bunker? So I have all these hidden stories that I have stored."
One thing's for sure: it's going to be a long, long wait. But, the two feature-length sequels and tv series will definitely be worth it. Here are the best Bong Joon-Ho movies to watch to keep you entertained until then.
