Quezon Script Is Finished, According to Creator of Heneral Luna and Goyo

Quezon is coming.

Jerrold Tarog, writer and director of Heneral Luna (2015) and Goyo: The Boy General (2018) has just finished writing the third installment of TBA Studios’ historical film trilogy. The working title? Quezon. 

In a tweet, Tarog shared the cover page of the Quezon script he co-wrote with fellow Goyo co-writer Rody Vera. It’s the latest update we have on the final film of the Heneral trilogy.

What We Know So Far

As the title suggests, Quezon is going to dive into the life of former president Manuel L. Quezon, whose life and death have been well documented. History has painted him as a distinguished and complex Filipino figure.

Unlike the last two films, Luna and Goyo, which were predominantly war films, Quezon will take on a comedic and satirical tone, according to Tarog.

Quezon was played by Benjamin Alves in Luna and TJ Trinidad in Goyo, both of whom portrayed Quezon at different ages. Last year, Tarog said that the two will be reprising their roles for Quezon as the film will tell the president’s story over a long period of time. He compared the structure to four short films, covering Quezon’s chess-like power plays over his long political career.

No word yet on when the film will go into production and be released. 

Tarog's first film in the historical trilogy, Luna, earned over P250 million in the box office, while Goyo earned over P120 million.
