Marvel Apparently Decided to Use AI for the Opening Credits of Secret Invasion
After watching Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, what may impress you the most is the fact that it showed you that Marvel does have another gear to it when they think outside of the box. It showed us the possibilities of animation on a glorious scale, as well as the power of new artists.
That's part of the reason why Secret Invasion sort of feels like a big letdown, especially when you find out that that ugly opening credits sketches were all artificial intelligence (AI)-generated.
The show follows Nick Fury as he, well, discovers the secret invasion of the Skrull population. Yes, we get some interesting shapeshifting stuff, but even that seemed a bit confusing. What's more troubling is the fact that Marvel thought it was a good idea to generate shapeshifting graphics by way of AI. You just can't ignore the gooey, green monstrosity, which feels like watercolor fan art gone wrong.
Sure, it's only the credits but a lot of fans are pretty annoyed by the AI takeover (or what appears to be the studio leaning toward that direction, at the very least).

It feels like Marvel prompted an AI with "Skrull vibes" or something. The sequence was designed by Method Studios using AI. “When we reached out to the AI vendors, that was part of it — it just came right out of the shape-shifting, Skrull world identity, you know? Who did this? Who is this?” director and executive producer Ali Selim told Polygon.
Selim went on to explain that there was a fascination with AI for the series. So this might just be a case of exploration. But who even knows anymore? Yesterday, it was the credits. Tomorrow, five actual films.
