These Are the Highest-Paid Actors of 2022
We love a good movie star, and so does Hollywood. So much so that these guys got the biggest cheques in the business for this year. Whether it's their gravitational on-screen pull or the action-packed stunts or simply their talent or, well, the natural charm, these veteran actors made the most out of their contemporaries in the year 2022, according to Variety.
Outside of the top five, we start off with Joaquin Phoenix. After signing up for the second Joker movie, Phoenix was reportedly paid $20 million to star alongside Lady Gaga. The 48-year-old had only been paid $4.5 million for the first Joker film, which had made $1 billion in the box office.
Joining him in the $20-million club were Tom Hardy, Vin Diesel, Chris Hemsworth, and Will Ferrell. Hardy and Diesel had each reprised their roles for the next installments in their respective franchises, Venom and Fast and the Furious. Hemsworth, on the other hand, secured the bag for Extraction 2. Meanwhile, Ferrell's pay cheque comes from his Christmas comedy musical, Spirited.
Now, we enter the top five.

5| Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
Everyone loves Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, especially producers. Hey, the wrestler-turned-Hollywood star may be leaving the DC Universe, but at least he got paid before her went. It is estimated that he had commanded $22.5 million for Black Adam.

It's no shock that Brad Pitt is on this list, considering he's one of the longest-tenured movie stars here. The 58-year-old actor was apparently cast in an upcoming unnamed Formula One film with Apple Studios for $30 million. For the role, he'll be starring with Lewis Hamilton himself.
3| Leonardo DiCaprio
Oh hey, we have one of Pitt's closest pals on here, too. Leonardo DiCaprio is back on the big screen with another film for 2023 and it already sounds promising. Directed by Martin Scorsese, Killers of the Flower Moon has DiCaprio starring with Robert De Niro in a historical drama based on the 1920s Osage tribe murders. The actor was paid handsomely for this, of course, at about $30 million. That's Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio to you, folks.
2| Will Smith
Okay, this might not exactly have been one of Will Smith's most fun years. He earlier made headlines after that slap, the one we all saw. But the 54-year-old actor's film career seems to be threading on the right track. For his latest film, the historical action thriller Emancipation, the star made $35 million. It got decent reviews and did pretty well upon its release.
1| Tom Cruise
Yes, being part of one of the most-anticipated sequels of all time will do that. Tom Cruise, who starred in Top Gun: Maverick, had quite the year. The blockbuster, which Cruise had even produced, made $1.4 billion at the global box office. Cruise wound up making a staggering $100 million because of a signing package he took even before he did the film. Very smart.
