You Can Finally Get Netflix in Filipino

There’s more to localizing streaming platforms than just launching shows in the local language.

From launching local shows to local-language shows, Netflix is now taking another step by launching its Filipino user interface for the first time. Starting today, Netflix users can change their Netflix account’s display language to Filipino.

The new Filipino UI lets subscribers read titles, sections, and synopses in the local language. With Filipino subtitles and Filipino dubbing also available, Netflix is giving users a completely localized experience.

English might be a common language in the Philippines, but it’s no secret that most Filipinos prefer speaking—and reading—in their mother tongue. For the subscribers handling their shared family accounts, the new UI might be just what your parents and grandparents need.

“At Netflix, we believe our members should be able to choose their viewing experience, whether it be the genre, format, or language of the content,” said Malobika Banerji, Netflix Content Director for Southeast Asia.

“We are very happy that our Filipino members will now have the option to enjoy their favorite Netflix content from all over the world with Filipino subtitles and dubbing, should they prefer to watch as such.”

You can change your display language by clicking “Manage Profiles,” opening your profile, and changing the display language from there.
