Coke Studio PH: This One’s for OPM
It was all about nostalgic sounds and indie thrills at the launch of Coke Studio PH. A partnership between Coca-Cola Philippines and TV5, Coke Studio PH sets a stage for OPM legends to collaborate with up-and-coming performers—all for the love of OPM.
Headed by Raimund Marasigan and Buddy Zabala, Coke Studio is a worldwide project of the softdrink giant and its first Pinoy episode, aired on the day of the launch concert, featured Noel Cabangon and Curtissmith.
The 10-in-one launch concert featured popular OPM bands on three main stages and music lovers ran around the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City, trying to catch Sandwich, Noel Cabangon, Curtismith, Urbandub, Gracenote, Autotelic, Abra, Reese Lansangan, Ebe Dancel, Moonstar88, and Franco.

The collaboration featured camaraderie, not just among the performers, but also among the excited audience members. Everyone sang along to the songs—old and new—and the different styles easily blended into one unique Pinoy sound that transcended all genres. This is the goal of Coke Studio PH: to boost OPM as a whole.
Future pairings to watch for? Sandwich x BP Valenzuela, Franco x Reese Lansangan, Moonstar88 x Jensen and the Flips, Urbandub x The Ransom Collective, Abra x Gracenote, and Ebe Dancel x Autotelic. Apart from the auditory treat of having these artists covering each other, fans will also hear seven originals tracks over the season—a testament to the evolution and diversity of Pinoy music.
Catch Coke Studio every Saturday at 7 p.m. on TV5 and on the Coke Studio PH YouTube channel.
