Apple is planning to unveil a low-cost version of its MacBook laptop this year, according to insiders.

There hasn't been a major overhaul of the MacBook for a few years, but sources told Bloomberg that the slightly rejigged MacBook will have a 13-inch screen, like the current generation of MacBooks, as well as having a higher-res Retina display.

With prices for the current generation of MacBooks Airs starting at about P55,000, the hope is that a cheaper model will be popular with younger users and bulk buyers including schools.

We don't know very much more about the details so far, but Apple tends to launch its MacBooks in October, after its iPhone launches. The insiders Bloomberg spoke to said that we're likely to get three iPhones this autumn, as well as an enlarged Apple Watch and iPad Pro. Bloomberg's sources also said that Apple is working on a new Mac Mini geared toward pro users, which would be the first Mac Mini upgrade in four years.
