Introducing Bronzed-Out Sound Machines From Audio Experts Bang & Olufsen
Bang & Olufsen started out as a family business in 1925, but has since grown into the global audio firm that it is today. Though many other companies have sprouted during the more than 90 years it has been in existence, the Danish company is confident of what it offers, which is exceptional sound with exceptional design.
At its newly refurbished showroom at the Shangri-La Plaza Mall, it proves yet again how it is one of the leaders in the evolution of sound with limited-edition releases in bronze: the BeoSound Edge, BeoSound 1, BeoSound 2, BeoPlay A9, and Beoplay M5.
Among these, the BeoSound Edge is the highlight. “It’s a seamless object without physical controls or any visual disturbances. The controls light up when you use them, and when you don’t, there’s really nothing to see,” says London-based deigner Michael Anastassiades. “To me, that’s magical.
The new home speaker, whose circular body can be either mounted on the floor or wall, is also calibrated to the human touch, allowing audiophiles to define the direction of where sound radiates from. Of course, it offers a very premium listening experience with potent bass at high volumes and accurate bass at low volumes, both courtesy of a 10-inch woofer bass on one side and a 4-inch midrange and 1/4-inch tweeter on both sides.
Meanwhile, both the BeoSound 1 and BeoSound 2 are smart speakers that offer the convenience of Google Voice Assistant. The virtual assistant, which recognizes users’ voices for personalized service, can stream music, bring up the calendar, find weather updates, and more.
Good to know: Bang & Olufsen has crafted a system in which products will still be functional as technology develops. “Older products can be controlled by the new system,” says Ferdinand “Ferdie” Ong, general manager of Living Innovations, the official distributor of Bang & Olufsen in Manila.
The company converts the software of its older devices, so that they become compatible with new systems. That way, legacy hardware and designs can still function in modern times. “We don't want you to throw away the products, because we know how much you value them, maybe for sentimental reasons,” Ong adds.
Apart from exceptional products, there is exceptional service. “We don't repair. That's one of the things that makes B&O very different. We don't fix it. We replace it,” says Ong. If a Bang & Olufsen device is faulty, the company will send out a courier to wherever the customer is, replace the device with a brand new one, and then ship it back to its place of origin all free of charge. The original two- or three-year warranty will even be extended for another two years. That just makes these sound machines even more worth it.
