To Mordor It Is: This LOTR-Inspired Walking App Tracks Your 'Journey' to Mount Doom
Not a day goes by that a Lord of the Rings reference isn’t welcomed. What we’d give to go back in time to watch the LOTR trilogy for the first time again. Alas, we can only content ourselves with unlimited reruns, various LOTR paraphernalia, and perhaps… an LOTR-inspired walking app.

Fantasy Hike is the latest nerd app to take TikTok by storm, particularly the LOTR side of TikTok. The app recreates the fellowship’s journey from the Shire to Mount Doom by counting your steps and comparing it to the actual (okay, fictional) distance in the books and movies. So in essence, you can pretty much walk to Mordor, or try to, with Fantasy Hike.

Whether you’re walking your dog or going for a run, these steps will be added to the app (and your journey to Mordor) so you can appreciate just how freaking far poor Frodo and Sam had to walk to get rid of that blasted ring. Really. Those hobbits deserve all the praise.
The app lets you start “quests,” walk with companions (other users), and track your progress on a fantasy map to show you just how far you are from Mount Doom. It even calculates your pace and tells you your ETA at Mordor. Now that’s efficiency.
Considering just how far Mordor is from the Shire, don’t be surprised if it takes you months, or even years, to get to Mount Doom.
