Ryan Reynolds Asked ChatGPT to Write an Ad Using His Voice. The Result Was 'Mildly Terrifying'
Ryan Reynolds is the king of ads, but it looks like he’s got stiff competition… in the form of AI mimicking himself. In an ad about an ad (that’s some Meta shit), Ryan Reynolds jumped onto the ChatGPT bandwagon because who could pass on something that’s completely free? Reynolds asked the AI technology to write a Ryan Reynolds-style ad for his company, Mint Mobile.
Here were his instructions: “Write a commercial about Mint Mobile in the voice of Ryan Reynolds. Use a joke, a curse word, and let people know that this holiday promo is still going even through big wireless companies have ended theirs.”
In a matter of seconds, here’s what ChatGPT came up with: “Hey, it’s Ryan Reynolds here. First of all, let me just say Mint Mobile is the s**t, but here’s the thing. All the Big Wireless companies out there are ending their holiday promos, but not Mint Mobile. We’re keeping the party going ’cause we’re just that damn good. Give Mint Mobile a try. And hey, as an added bonus, if you sign up now, you’ll get to hear my voice every time you call customer service. Just Kidding. That’s not really a thing. Stay classy, everyone.”
The results were “mildly terrifying,” even for Ryan Reynolds. But “compelling.”
We can’t tell if this was a bit or if ChatGPT actually locked down Ryan Reynolds’ voice to come up with this absurdly accurate ad. If it’s the latter, then even Reynolds is in danger of becoming obsolete.
This is worse than Terminator. AI is coming for your jobs and your humor. Run.
