This Tropical Urban Oasis in Pampanga Is Perfect For Your Next Getaway
Are you looking for your barkada's next holiday crib? This tropical urban oasis in Angeles, Pampanga might just be the perfect place for you and your pals to unwind and spend a couple of days of full relaxation.
Just a few hours' drive away from the metro, Bale Salangi is a charming 260-square-meter home that is oozing with Kapampangan crafts and other sustainable materials. The property was an old house flipped into a tropical-themed house, with an open design to promote natural ventilation and lighting.
"Nung nabili ko itong property maraming trees around it and we want to save those trees. So we build around them and gawing hindi siya ganun kasikip kasi medyo limited yung space," architect Louie Pineda says explaining the inspiration behind the rental's design.
If you've got a big group, fret not because the house has three bedrooms: Two deluxe bedrooms with en suite bathrooms each and a third, which is the group room where there are four bunk beds.
The group room extends upwards to the loft, which also functions as a game room. Talk about having the best time with your pals!

If you would ask us, this is the highlight of this home - the refreshing rainforest and waterfall feature that will surely elevate your swimming experience. And as much as this leaves you in awe, there is more to it than meets the eye.
"The role of the waterfalls is to neutralize the positive ions from coming from airborne allergens. That's why walang gaanong alikabok sa loob kahit open siya. 'Yun ang pinaka-use ng waterfall natin, not just aesthetics," Pineda says.
The backstory
Bale Salangi was born during the pandemic, which upended owner Ian Tiongson's family business.
"When the pandemic happened, the Cabalen group of restaurants, which my mother founded, was severely affected. One of the projects na nakitaan ko ng opportunity during the pandemic is the villa business. That's how Bale Salangi came to be," Tiongson says.
As an homage, a large table made of acacia wood from old Cabalen restaurants sits right in the middle of the property's dining area.
Aside from the main house, there is the smaller rental, Bale Kuna. Like the main house, this is also designed to maximize natural ventilation and illumination, letting in as much natural sunlight as possible.
While more compact, Bale Kuna has its own charm and mini surprise for its guests too. The 50-square-meter cradle's main feature is a hammock bed that hangs over an indoor jacuzzi.
Bale Salangi is up for rent from P15,000 to P18,000 per night depending on the season, while the more affordable Bale Kuna can be rented for P4,000 to P6,000 per night.
