You Can Rent This Luxurious K-Drama House in South Korea
In the Venn diagram of K-drama chaebols (AKA South Korea’s super wealthy conglomerate-owning families), what lies in the middle are these: stone-cold attitude, an amazing taste in fashion, and sometimes, the same house.
Viewers of dramas like Little Women and Business Proposal might have noticed something similar between their more well-off characters. In the Kim Go Eun-led loose adaptation of the Louisa May Alcott novel, Seoul mayor hopeful Park Jae Sang (Um Ki Joon) and his family Sang Ah (Uhm Ji Won) and Hyo Rin (Jeon Chae Eun) reside in a modern granite residence surrounded by green landscapes. (Spoiler alert: It’s where Go Eun’s Oh In Joo and Wi Ha Joon’s Choi Do Il usually have their secret convos.)
In Business Proposal, on the other hand, the show’s resident chaebol Kang Tae Moo (Ahn Hyo Seop) and his family live in a familiar house, which—you guessed it—is the exact same spot. And it isn’t just Little Women and Business Proposal’s one percent that calls this place home. The luxury house was also featured in other series like The Penthouse: War in Life season 3, Dali and Cocky Prince, Crazy Love, Melancholia, and Kill Heel.
Unlike its usual Seoul setting in the shows, the in-demand filming location is actually located 90 minutes away from the South Korean capital at the Oak Valley Resort of Gangwon Province.
It's situated in the mountainous landscape surrounding Gangwon's forests.
The luxury residence is designed by Netherlands-based design house Studio Piet Boon, helmed by Danish designer Piet Boon.
Commissioned in 2010, the home is meant to blend in with its natural surroundings.
The exterior is constructed from local granite stone in a subdued color scheme.
As for the interior, the house is connected by a single hallway, with unobstructed lines of sight so that residents can bask in its design from any vantage point.
Large glass windows also fill the space with natural light—making the place both functional and luxurious.
With two bedrooms and three floors, the Piet Boon house can accommodate a maximum of four people.
Alongside these spaces, the residence also holds a living room, study, entertainment room, wine bar, and an outdoor swimming pool.
Dining services such as Korean or Western breakfast and dinner courses are also available.
They can even have a barbeque course cooked on the spot by a chef.
For anyone wishing for an event straight out of a K-drama, however, the location can also be booked for small gatherings and a private house wedding.
