Turn Your Layover into an Adventure with Shanghai's Free City Tours

One of the inconveniences of international layovers is the waiting time between flights, which can stretch from a couple of hours to an entire day. During this time, travelers are often stuck in the transit area, with limited options to rest, work, or entertain themselves.

Now, layover passengers transiting through Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) can turn a tiresome ordeal into an exciting trip. Those stopping at the airport for over eight hours could avail of Trip.com Group's "Shanghai Express" complimentary tours.

The tours will be available to international travelers who are eligible for China’s 72/144-hour visa-free transit policy, as well as those holding a 24-hour temporary entry permit issued by the airport border inspection.

Upon passing customs after arrival at the airport, travelers may head to the Trip.com Group currency exchange counter on Island A in the Departure Hall of Terminal 2 for in-person registration. A professional guide will be available at the counter one hour before the start of each tour to assist with the registration process. Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Travelers will be able to choose from several tour timings. Each free tour accommodates a maximum of ten travelers and lasts five to six hours, including transportation from and back to the airport.

The tours showcase Shanghai's top attractions, offering insights into the city's rich history and contemporary culture.

The Shanghai Highlights City Tour (from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM), allows visitors to immerse themselves in the traditional Chinese architecture of Yu Garden and marvel at Shanghai's iconic, modern skyline from the Bund.

For romantics and urban history enthusiasts, the Strolling Under the Trees Citywalk Tour (from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM) provides a picturesque journey through the old villas and charming cafes of Wukang Road, with visits to Yu Garden and a serene walk along the historical Bund.

Lastly, the Huangpu River Cruise Sightseeing Night Tour, from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, offers a unique experience of the city's nightlife, showcasing breathtaking night views of the Bund from the river cruise and a lively exploration of Yu Garden under the cover of night.
