Injap Sia's Hotel 101 Is Expanding to Spain

DoubleDragon Corporation subsidiary Hotel101 Global Pte Ltd is purchasing prime commercial land in Madrid, Spain, the company disclosed on Thursday (April 27).

The 6,593 square meter lot located at Avenida Fuerzas Armadas, Valdebebas in Spani's capital city, is Hotel101's first development in Europe and is also the first homegrown Filipino hotel chain to come to Spain. It's a step toward DoubleDragon's goal for Hotel 101 to become one of the top five largest hotels in Madrid. 

This 736-room development will be surrounded by major landmark buildings in Madrid. These include the Valdebebas Train Station, IFEMA convention complex, Real Madrid Sports Complex, and the new Madrid Barajas International Airport, all of which are only between three to seven minutes away from the property. Facilities in Hotel101-Madrid include an all day dining restaurant, a business center, a swimming pool, a fitness gym, and another space for a 24-hour convenience store.

DoubleDragon is expected to generate roughly €143.3 million euros (approximately P8.8 billion) in condotel sales revenues from the Hotel101-Madrid project, which the company says will be primarily driven by high real estate investment demand from people possessing a Spanish Golden Visa.

Besides the Spain property, Hotel101 had earlier announced overseas projects in Niseko, Hokkaido in Japan, and in California in the United States. The brand hopes to expand the Hotel101 concept to as many as 100 countries.

DoubleDragon's near-term goal is to aim for projects in 25 countries by 2026, covering areas in the Philippines, Japan, Spain, USA, United Kingdom, UAE, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Mexico, South Korea, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, Turkey, Italy, Germany, France, and China.
