Fernando Zobel de Ayala Is Back With Ayala Land as Advisor
Fernando Zobel de Ayala has returned to the Ayala group five months after stepping down to focus on his health. The former Ayala Corporation vice chairman, president and CEO has been appointed advisor to the Board of Ayala Land Inc.
The Ayala group's property unit announced the approval of his appointment in a regulatory filing after meeting on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. Zobel was chairman of the board of Ayala Land for roughly 23 years before vacating the position.
He had taken a medical leave of absence back in August 2022, stepping down as vice chairman of the Board of Directors, president and CEO of Ayala Corp., and member of the Executive Committee and Finance Committees of Ayala Corp.
Later on, he would resign from the rest of his posts under the conglomerate and its other ventures. These include director and co-vice chairman of the board of Globe Telecom, board member of Manila Water Co. Inc, and director and chairman of the board of Ayala Land Inc., among others.

Zobel was previously named president and CEO of Ayala Corp in April 2021, replacing his brother, Jaime Augusto Zobel De Ayala.
At the time of his brother's departure, Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala wrote on Facebook: "I want to assure everyone that Fernando is in high spirits, but he has asked for some time to focus on his health and recovery. We all have so many responsibilities and commitments in all aspects of our lives, but first and foremost, we should all prioritize our health and well-being."
He added: "As a family we're fully supportive of Fernando's decision to take a leave so he can do whatever is necessary to rebuild his strength."
In the past weeks, Zobel had annonced returning to work and to social functions. The 62-year-old was spotted at Seven Neo Building in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig just last week.
