What’s the Top Paying ‘Raket’ for One Day’s Work in the Philippines?
Side hustles or ‘rakets’ are jobs people take on alongside or on top of their main employment or regular source of income. It’s supplementing the money you earn with tasks that you can do on your extra time off from work or business. And because of the pressures of day-to-day life, more and more people are embracing the side hustle culture.
In the Philippines, the side hustle culture has never been more popular. According to a study by Agile Data Solutions last October, 60 percent of 1,000 survey respondents aged 18 and above reported having part-time jobs or side hustles, proving that younger Filipino workers are inclined to engage in ‘rakets’ to build their financial capacity at a young age.
“We see an increasing number of Filipinos, particularly the younger generation, seeking part-time employment as a means to bolster their income and attain financial stability,” Agile Data Solutions chairman and chief executive officer Jason Gaguan said. “This trend is further driven by the prevailing economic challenges and inflation, which reached 6.1 percent in September.”
The same study revealed that those who are involved in side hustle are reportedly earning as much as P10,000 per month.

To find the answer, researchers at NetCredit combed through thousands of publicly available job ads, focusing on the highest salaries for single-day gigs.
In the Philippines, the highest-earning side hustle is website design, which pays an average of $97 or about P5,440 for a single day’s work.
That’s more than the pay for a website designer in Malaysia ($43), or infographic designer in Indonesia ($55), but less than the pay for a mobile app developer in Vietnam ($144).
Worldwide, the highest-earning side hustle in the world is for a mobile app developer in Ukraine, which pays $471.11 for a day’s work.
According to NetCredit’s study, website design is the most profitable gig in at least 21 countries, including the Philippines.
Digging further into the study, writing and editing jobs seem to be lucrative worldwide, particularly for those writing LinkedIn profiles, whose average pay is $110.34 for 24-hour job completion. It’s followed by writing press releases ($97), brand voice and tone ($93), ghostwriting ($91) and editing and critiquing ($85).
Design work, meanwhile, on average worldwide, pays much more than writing jobs. Working on a presentation design, for example, pays $163 for one day’s work. It’s followed by website design ($162), 3D industrial design ($142), brand style guides ($136), and packaging and label design ($122).
Other top-paying side hustles broken down by category include AI spokesperson videos (under AI, $131), crafting a marketing strategy (under digital marketing, $178), working on a pitch deck (($104), and creating dashboards, or visualizing data and processing it in real time in a digital interface (under data science and analytics, $120).
NetCredit says it came up with the results by analyzing publicly available data on freelance ad rates from online freelance marketplace Fiverr. Various side hustles were ranked based on the average base price for all services advertised within a specific category with express 24-hour delivery time.
