San Miguel Closes Indonesia Processed Meat Unit

San Miguel Food and Beverage is closing its processed meats unit in Indonesia as part of its efforts to streamline its business. PT San Miguel Foods Indonesia (PT SMFI) will cease operations effective October 31, 2021, the company said in a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Friday, (October 1).

SMFB said it wants to streamline its business and focus on expansion in the Philippines.

PT SMFI is a 75 percent-25 percent joint venture between San Miguel Food and Beverage and PT Hero Intiputra nad has existed for nearly 30 years.

According to its profile, “PT San Miguel Pure Foods Indonesia is the leading producer and marketer of halal fresh processed meat products for retail, foodservice, and institutional customers in Indonesia.” Its brands include Farmhouse and Vida sausages, burgers, meatballs, cold cuts, and food service products.

“All products are HACCP-accredited, ISO-certified, and are widely distributed in both the retail and food service market,” the company’s profile reads. 

SMFB is the largest and food and beverage company in the Philippines and is a subsidiary of San Miguel Corp.
