San Miguel Corp. Is the Most Desired Employer in PH, Survey Says

On the second and third spots are Accenture and Ayala Corporation, according to Jobstreet by SEEK's Employee Job Happiness Index 2024.

Ramon Ang-led San Miguel Corporation is the most coveted private company among Filipino jobseekers, according to the recent Employee Job Happiness Index 2024 survey by leading online job portal Jobstreet by SEEK. This is not surprising as the firm is also the top-ranking Filipino company on Forbes' World’s Best Employers list this year, securing the 89th spot. Accenture and Ayala Corporation are on the second and third spots respectively.

Other companies such as Google, JP Morgan Chase & Co., SM Development Corporation (SMDC), Nestle, Globe, P&G, Aboitiz, Amazon, Banco de Oro (BDO), and Emapta were also included in the list of sought-after private companies by candidates.
Meanwhile, jobseekers favor the Asian Development Bank as the leading government agency or non-government organization (NGO), followed by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Department of Education (DepEd).

Also included under this category are the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the United Nations, the Department of Health (DOH), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Department of Agriculture (DA), the US Embassy, Commission on Audit, Philippine Ports Authority, and the Department of Finance (DOF), among others.

Jobseekers consider work schedule or location, company reputation, and values as their top criteria in selecting a new employer. Equally important to them are the work culture, benefits offered, and job security.

Retention of talent is another key factor attracting jobseekers. The survey revealed that salary increases (39 percent), improved working hours and time flexibility (13 percent), promotions (13 percent), and holiday/vacation leaves (12 percent) are the primary drivers of employee morale. Employees reported they would feel happier in the next six months if they received these benefits.

Hirers should view these benefits as key drivers of employee retention, as maintaining high morale contributes to job satisfaction and subsequently, longevity within the company. These benefits might also attract future jobseekers, as current employees may share their positive experiences with people around them. Word-of-mouth continues to be a significant factor for candidates when evaluating potential employers.
