Taipan Lucio Tan has been hospitalized after testing positive for COVID-19, but is now in stable condition and responding well to treatment. According to Tan’s daughter, Vivienne Tan, her father is now recovering after the health scare.

“Thank you for all your concern and prayers,” said Vivenne in an Instagram post. “We would like to request for some privacy at this time. Please continue to pray for his speedy recovery. Thank you.”

Tan, one of the last taipans of his generation, is the chairman of LT Group, which is the Tan family’s holding company for its business empire. Through LT Group, Tan heads Philippine Airlines, Philippine National Bank, University of the East, Asia Brewery, Tanduay Distillers, and more.

At 86, Lucio Tan is the third wealthiest man in the Philippines with a fortune of $3.3 billion (P159.5 billion). Tan’s spouse, Lucia “Letty” Gonzalez-Tan, passed away on September, 2020, just nine months after Lucio Tan lost a son, Lucio Tan Jr., on November, 2019.
