A Filipino-Founded Air Quality Startup Just Won a Multi-Year Contract With a City in California
Filipino-founded startup uHoo, which monitors air quality in homes and businesses for better health, has won a contract to provide its services to a city in California, its first in the United States.Ā Ā
The tech startup, which is based in Singapore, announced that the city of Fontana has deployed uHooās platform āacross all government offices, the city hall, community centers, police stations, and elderly care homes, among others, to monitor and manage the indoor environment in real-time, to protect the health and well-being of its residents and employees, to optimize energy use, and to enhance their ESG performance.āĀ
uHoo said its platform can now be integrated into the cityās facilitiesā heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems as well as its building management systems (BMS) to automate climate control. Its automated air purifiers were also installed in areas where HVAC or BMS is unavailable.Ā Ā
Fontana is Californiaās 19th largest city and second largest in the county of San Bernardino.Ā Ā Ā

uHoo is now a leading figure in the global air quality monitoring system market, which was valued at $5.38 billion in 2022 and is expected to grow to about $10.29 billion over the next 10 years, according to a research report published by Spherical Insights & Consulting.Ā
Founded in 2014, uHoo monitors air quality parameters and provides data, alerts, insights and recommendations via the uHoo mobile app. These parameters include temperature, humidity, air pressure, particulate matter (PM1, PM2.5, PM4, and PM10), carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs), light, and sound.Ā Ā
While many businesses faltered during the pandemic, the company said it actually grew during the toughest years of the pandemic due to an increased focus on health and well-being.Ā Ā Ā
Today its technology is being used in homes and businesses not just in the Philippines but in Philippines, but in countries like Australia, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Japan, Netherlands, Singapore, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the U.S.A.Ā
