Ramon Ang Has Just Been Named to Forbes Asia's Heroes of Philanthropy
San Miguel Corporation (SMC) president and chief executive officer Ramon Ang is many things. And on top of that, he is one of the most generous billionaires in the country. He remains one of the country's most revered billionaires for his vision, nation-building efforts, and well-publicized philanthropy. So much so that he has just been named to Forbes Asia's 2023 list of "Heroes of Philanthropy."

For close to two decades now, the publication has awarded 15 philanthropists in various regions for their charitable work and donations to focused advocacy groups.
Ang was cited for having donated about P500 million to establish schools in underserved communities in Metro Manila. On top of this, the Filipino-Chinese industrialist, through, the RSA Foundation, has given away about P150 million worth of scholarship grants and medical aid. He has helped build research centers and hospitals, as well.
The San Miguel Foundation, on the other hand, reportedly donated P14.8 billion to relief measures during the COVID-19 pandemic and another P3 billion to address the city's river woes. Ang has been known to be part of groups that lead clean-ups of the Tullahan River and Pasig River, as well as improvement projects of several waterways.
By its most recent metrics, Forbes ranked Ang as the fourth wealthiest Filipino with an estimated worth of about $3.4 billion or P193 billion. In the past, he has been honored with the Outstanding Filipino Award and the Legion of Honor by the French Government.
