Facebook live sellers have until the end of September to make the most of the platform's "live shopping" feature, as beginning Oct. 1, the specialized tool will no longer be available.

Facebook Live, which is used for broadcasting live events, will still be available but supplementary features like creating product playlists and tagging products in live videos will be removed, Meta said in a blog, citing a strategy shift for videos.

"As consumers’ viewing behaviors are shifting to short-form video, we are shifting our focus to Reels on Facebook and Instagram, Meta’s short-form video product," the company said, explaining its decision.

One can try experimenting with Reels, which are both available on Facebook and Instagram, if they want to keep using videos as a means to stay engaged with their online audience, Meta said.

One can also use Instagram more, whose Instagram Shopping platform enables business accounts to tag products in Reels and host live Shopping events, Meta added.
