Kiko Pangilinan Overtakes Sara Duterte on Google Trends as Most-Searched Vice President Candidate

Sen. Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan overtook Sara Duterte as the most-searched Philippine vice presidential candidate based on Google Trends data on Monday.

The March 21 report, based on data from the previous week, showed Pangilinan had a 41 percent share of Google searches, four points ahead of President Rodrigo Duterte's daughter. 

Pangilinan was most-searched in relation to rice tarrification or import tax on the staple grain. During a Comelec-sponsored debate Sunday, he explained his abstention when the bill was put to a vote.

Also searched with Pangilinan, his move actor nephew, Donny Pangilinan, who joined a campaign rally for the first time Sunday night in Pasig City, the one that caught the attention of American pop star Ariana Grande for its size and the crowd singing "Break Free."

Vice President Leni Robredo widened her lead over rival for the presidency Bongbong Marcos, with a 49 percent share of searches versus 26 percent for the late dictator's son and namesake.

In a February Pulse Asia poll before the Robredo-Pangilinan rallies attracted tens of thousands, Marcos and Duterte kept their lead.
