Let Manny Lead the Prayer? Leni Robredo's Supporters Call on Candidates to Unite Opposition
Leni Robredo has officially announced her run for president, and searches for the Tagalog of “pink” are spiking as her supporters joke that her haters won’t be able to use “dilawan” as a slur anymore. (“Mga rosas!” just doesn’t have the same ring to it.)
But other curious hashtags that are making the rounds of social media might just be a campaign to narrow down the competition to unite behind one leader of the opposition. Since Robredo filed her certificate of candidacy, two hashtags went viral on Twitter: #LetMannyLeadThePrayer and #WithdrawIsko.
Pacquiao and Moreno are candidates for the presidency, and both have expressed their opposition of President Rodrigo Duterte in recent months. There were rumors of an impending Robredo-Moreno team-up, but it looks like Isko is going his own way. So are Manny Pacquiao and Panfilo Lacson, resulting in four main opposition factions.
Leni’s Twitter supporters are all for a united opposition—but with a touch of shade.
