Quezon City Is Named Asia's Top Destination for Architecture Lovers
Quezon City has been named Asia's top destination for architecture lovers, according to a study by Buildworld. The city also ranked top 2 in the world for the best destinations for architecture lovers.

"Buildworld identified the top 10 destination cities in every country according to each country's Tripadvisor page. We filtered the listings in each of these cities to find reviews of local architecture. Next, we calculated the percentage of architectural sites in each city that have a 4.5- or 5-star rating and ranked the cities according to this metric," wrote Buildworld in a release.
In Asia, Quezon City bested cities such as Dubai, Jerusalem, and Istanbul. No cities from Japan, Singapore, or China made the top 10 in Asia.
Top 10 Asian Destinations according to Buildworld
But it's important to know that the study is very limited and is only based on Tripadvisor ratings by its users, and may not accurately reflect what architecture professionals think.
"For every country on Tripadvisor that has a destinations list on the main country page (e.g., Chile), we recorded the 10 most popular destination cities," wrote Buildworld.
For each city, Buildworld applied the following filters:
- Architectural buildings
- Castles
- Churches and Cathedrals
- Sacred and Religious Sights
- Ancient Ruins
- Bridges
"We then recorded the star ratings for all of the architectural buildings and, after removing results with fewer than five reviews, calculated the percentage of 4.5- and 5-star attractions for each place. This analysis is correct as of July 2023," said Buildworld.
Although Quezon City has no castles or ancient ruins like Jerusalem and Hyderabad, it still came out on top of Asia's list.
Quezon City ranked second in the world's top destinations for architecture lovers.
What's more surprising is how Quezon City beat New York City, London, Paris, Athens, and even Rome in the world's top destinations for architecture lovers, according to Buildworld.
According to Buildworld, Quezon City scored 90% in the Tripadvisor ratings, while New York City scored 56.4%, London 59.1%, Paris 40.4%, Athens 48.9%, and Rome 47.2%.
