A video has been going around social media that shows a security guard of SM Megamall being run over by an SUV. Host, social media content creator, and influencer James Deakin posted it on his Facebook page and titled it “Pure Evil.”
The video shows the moment the SUV hit the security guard, who was helping direct traffic in the busy intersection in Mandaluyong City. Instead of stopping, the SUV keeps going and actually runs over the guard before speeding off.
The video is so graphic that Facebook blurred out the content and placed a “sensitive content” tag warning viewers it. Link to the video here and here.
“How can anyone be so heartless??” Deakin says about the video. “If anyone has any info on the driver of this car, please go straight to authorities.”
Most comments about the video are expressions of shock and horror, and anger at the driver of the SUV.
Esquire Philippines reached out to SM’s AVP for SM Megamall Operations Ian Mathay, who said the security guard has been taken to the hospital and is just waiting to be cleared by the doctors.
Mathay added that he will share more details on the victim’s medical condition as soon as there is an official report from the doctors.
After seeing the video, it is indeed a miracle the victim survived. He can be seen being run over on the chest by what looks to be a white Toyota RAV4 which weighs about 1.5 tons without passengers or load.
Photos of the victim lying on a hospital bed have also been circulating.
Reports say the driver of the SUV has been identified as of Monday afternoon, although his name has not been made publicly available as of the posting of this story.
