Taal Relief: What to Donate (and Not Donate) and Where to Send Them

Don't treat relief efforts as a way to get rid of stuff you can't sell at a garage sale.

The Taal Volcano eruption on January 12 has displaced thousands of families, with at least 30,000 people fleeing to evacuation sites in Cavite and Batangas. Below is a list of what to donate and what not to donate and how to send them.

What to Donate:

    • Cash
    • Water
    • Masks
    • Towels
    • Easy-to-open goods
    • Bread and biscuits
    • Toiletries
    • Sleeping mats or mattresses/bed bags
    • Blankets
    • Non-prescription medicine
    • Baby/infant needs
    • Cleaning materials

What not to donate:

    • Used clothes
    • Shoes
    • Stuffed toys
    • Prescription medicine
    • Opened food items
    • Gowns and prom dresses
    • Miscellaneous things (bags, books, old gadgets, or things you typically see in a garage sale)

How to Send Your Donations

A number of organizations and government units have mobilized volunteers to accept and handle donations for Taal Volcano eruption victims. The following are some of the major organizations working on sending your help to where it’s needed.

1| Bonifacio Global City (BGC)

BGC, through its social responsibility arm, the Fort Bonifacio Development Foundation, Inc. (FBDFI), will accept donations in kind at the concierge of C1, Bonifacio High Street (near Din Tai Fung) or at the ground floor of the Bonifacio Technology Center, 31st Street corner 2nd Avenue until 4:00 p.m. on January 17, 2020.

For cash donations, you may deposit any amount at its BPI account:

Deposit slips may be e-mailed to [email protected] for issuance of acknowledgment receipts, if needed. All donations will be coursed through FBDFI’s partner, the Boy Scouts of Lipa.


2| Caritas Manila

The Catholic Church is organizing one of the biggest relief efforts for victims of the Taal Volcano eruption through Caritas.

For donations in kind, the drop-off site is at 2002 Jesus Street, Pandacan, Manila.

For cash donations, you may wire your donations to its various bank accounts.

For proper acknowledgment of your donations, you may fax a copy of your deposit slip to 8563-9306 or e-mail a copy to [email protected] with your name and address.

3| Philippine Red Cross

The Philippine Red Cross is accepting donations in kind at various offices in Cavite.

For cash donations, you may deposit at the following Philippine Red Cross accounts.

5| Tulong Kabataan

Tulong Kabataan is accepting donations in kind at the Kabataan Partylist Office located at 117C Matatag Street, Barangay Central, Quezon City.

6| Rotaract Club of Manila

The Rotaract Club of Manila is accepting donations in kind through its two offices in Laguna and Makati. The drop-off point in Laguna is at Fil-Em Building, 8 J. Luna Street, Poblacion, San Pedro, Laguna (look for Bhea Santiago or contact 0906 823 7737). The drop-off point in Makati is at Makati Rotary Club Foundation, Inc. 10| Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS)

PAWS is also sending out help focused on rescuing animals in and around Taal Lake. According to PAWS, pet dogs, cows and other livestock have been left at the site when people were evacuated. For cash donations, you may deposit to the PAWS official bank account.

11| People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)

Animal rights group PETA is accepting donations in kind (cat food, dog food, telescopes for scouting stranded animals, leashes, collars). You may drop off your donations at the PETA Asia office located at Unit 706, Fedman Building, 199 Salcedo Street, Legaspi Village, Makati.

Operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
