Taal Volcano Is Acting Up Again. It's Blowing Out Steam As We Speak
Taal Volcano in Batangas is acting up again, blowing out a puff of steam at around 8 a.m.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has steadily kept the alert level at Level 1 over Taal Volcano over the last six months since the volcano erupted on January 12, 2020.
Alert Level 1 over Taal Volcano means that steam-driven explosions, volcanic earthquakes, and minor ashfall can occur.
While it’s normal for the volcano and its surrounding areas to experience earthquakes, it’s been a while since onlookers have witnessed steam emitting from the volcano. For those who live nearby, keep a close eye on updates from PHIVOLCS.
Taal’s latest activity occurred at almost the same time a magnitude 6.5 earthquake rocked Masbate, with shakes being felt as far as Camarines Sur.
